Ipswich

  • Clam Box of Ipswich: The Clam Box has been serving up hot, fried seafood to appreciative fans since 1935. Order the Fried Full Belly Clams and revel at the flavor of the sea and the crunch of the batter. They do have chicken fingers, but why go to a place called the “Clam Box” and order the chicken fingers? All the fried seafood served are delicious. The foods are fried, so if you expect a light healthy meal, you may be very very disappointed. No dress code, no reservations, walk up, order at window and find a place to not burn yourself on the hot hot food and eat.

Bearskin Neck/Rockport

  • Roy Moor’s Fish Shack and Restaurant: Located at 21 Dock Square in Rockport (Roy Moor’s Lobster Company is located around the corner down Bearskin Neck towards the harbor — seems to be temporarily closed during the pandemic). One may think that lobster is lobster is lobster, yet, the lobster at Roy Moor’s just tastes a bit better. It may be the setting of this small colonial town, established as a fishing village in the 1600’s, or it may be the fact that, during the war of 1812, Sea Fencibles stationed at the Rockport barracks, along with local militia, fended off invading British on HMS Nymph in the Battle of Bearskin Neck. i can’t say for sure, but the lobster does taste wonderful indeed! No dress code, no reservations needed. TEL: (978) 546-6667

  • Helmut’s Strudel: located on Bearskin Neck in Rockport (69 Bearskin Neck, Rockport), it is a taste of traditional Austrian pastries in the midst of a New England harbor. Yes, seems out of place, but is there a bad time for a good strudel? Stop in, have a lovely pastry and perhaps some ice cream! No dress code, no reservations needed.
